3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Emergency Overview: Appearance & Odor: Clear blue liquid with mild odor. Warning Statements: This solution is flammable and toxic. Avoid open flames, sparks, static discharge, or ignition sources. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents and acids. The product’s main routes of entry are through skin contact, eye contact, ingestion and inhalation of the vapor.

Potential Adverse Health Effects: Eye Contact: May cause eye severe irritation, if irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Skin Contact: May cause skin irritation. Seek medical help if irritation persists.

Ingestion: The mixture may irritate the mucous membrane if ingested, seek medical attention.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

If in Eyes: PROMPTLY flush with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, remove contact lenses if worn. Flush continually lifting the lower and upper lids. See a physician if irritation persists. If on Skin: Remove clothing which has been saturated. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists. If Swallowed: Have the person drink 2-3 glasses of water and induce vomiting. NEVER give anything to an unconscious person.

Inhalation: Vapor or mists may cause irritation to nasal and respiratory passages, seek medical attention.

Call a physician or your local Poison Control Center and take to medical facility immediately. Treatment should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flash Point: 53 ºF; Flammable Flammable Limits: LEL 6% UEL 36% Extinguishing Media: Use appropriate medium for surrounding fire such as carbon dioxide, dry chemical and or foam. Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Provide for the protection of the employees and residents: Notify local authorities that firemen should wear self-contained breathing apparatus with full protecting chemical resistant clothing. See section 11 for toxicological data.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

In Cases of Spill or Leak: Avoid skin contact and remove all sources of ignition!

to clean up a large or small spill. Isolate the area from others and call supervisor to allow the properly trained crews to clean up the spill.

For small spills, ventilate the area, wear proper personal protective equipment, use chemical absorbent to clean up spill, shovel into container and flush area with water. For large spills, contact emergency responders and secure area from everyone.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Avoid sparks, open flames, static discharge and ignition sources.

Wear PPE before opening the container. Please keep solution in a cool, dry place away from everyone such as children, food, feed and domestic animals. Prevent eating, drinking, tobacco usage, and cosmetic application in areas where there is a potential for exposure to the material. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling


8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION

Eye Protection: Chemical splash proof goggles or full face shield. Skin Contact: To avoid skin contact on body wear impervious protective clothing, gloves and boots. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning the PPE. Respiratory Protection: Wear a vapor/particulate respirator (NIOSH/MSHA TC 23C) or equivalent if necessary. OSHA requires medical qualification to wear a respirator and proper fit testing documented. If possible wear supplied air or SCBA.

Ventilation Protection: Provide adequate mechanical ventilation, to avoid flash back from isopropyl alcohol. Eye wash and shower: Provide at all handling and application areas.

9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Appearance: Clear blue liquid.

Odor: Mild odor.

Solubility: Soluble in water

One must be specifically trained under OSHA 29 CFR part 1910.120 the HAZWOPER regulations

If Inhaled: Remove to fresh air. Call 9-1-1, seek medical attention if difficulty in breathing continues.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Chemical Stability: Stable at room temperature. Conditions to Avoid: Excessive heat. Materials to Avoid: Avoid strong oxidizers and acids. Avoid sparks, open flames, static discharge and ignition sources. Hazardous Decomposition Products: In incomplete combustion oxides of carbon. Avoid contact with aluminum and mild steel to avoid production of hydrogen.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Routes of entry: Eye, skin contact, inhalation and ingestion.

Eye Irritation: May cause irritation to the eyes.

Skin Irritation: May cause irritation and redness.

Inhalation: May cause irritation of respiratory tract.

Ingestion May cause impact on central nervous system.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

This product may kill aquatic life. Keep out of streams and related drainage systems.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Wear proper PPE found in section 8. A person must be adequately trained by OSHA to deal with a large spill of this solution.

Protect from excessive heat. Solution must be stored in a cool dry place away from children.

14. TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Follow the precautions indicated in the Handling and Storage Section, Section 7 of this MSDS.
